ABOUT VINX

Since his first professional appearance with Taj Mahal at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1978, Vinx has been at the forefront of pop percussion. Despite being one of music's best kept secret's, Vinx has been hailed as one of the most gifted improvisational vocalists of the last 40 years, with soaring vocals, intricate layered melodies and grooves creating his signature style. Vinx's songs range from jazz to funk, bossa nova to blues and back again, so that every audience takes a world tour with Vinx as their private guide.

During his long career, Vinx has recorded and toured with some of music's greatest icons: Stevie Wonder (Conversation Piece), Sting (Soul Cages), Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow, Branford Marsalis, Ernie Watts (Musican), Taj Mahal, Ricki Lee Jones, Darius Rucker, Will Downing, Cassandra Wilson (Blue Light Till Dawn), Brenda Russell, Cher and numerous others.  His songs have been recorded by artists including Tom Jones, Will Downing, Cassandra Wilson and his original music has been featured on a variety of TV shows and commercials including The Lion King, Northern Exposure and Sprite™.  

He taught at Berklee College of Music in Boston for 14 years, and created various acclaimed music and artistry workshop series – The Artist Within, The Songwriter Soul Kitchen & The VINX Vocal Summit.  VINX lives in the south of France.  

Just before the pandemic, Vinx independently released his album Coins In The Sofa, giving other musicians the chance to have the feelings he had when Taj Mahal took him on stage in 1978.
